IPL launches Smart Replay System to facilitate speedier and more precise reviews. Deba, March 19, 2024 The Smart Replay System will be introduced in the IPL 2024, enabling TV umpires to receive direct input from two Hawk-Eye operators who supply images taken by their eight high-speed cameras. The technology gives the umpire access to additional sights, including as split-screen pictures, which can be useful in pinpointing the fielder’s hands and feet at the exact instant the ball was caught. The umpire can also review side-on replay through the system to look for overthrows, stumpings, run-outs, and catches. When a stumping referral is made, the TV umpire can ask the operators to display the split screen. UltraEdge will be used if there is a noticeable space between the bat and the ball.
