Munro was taken into consideration for the team but was left out despite not having played an international match for New Zealand since 2020. Munro has switched to franchise cricket, but he is still determined to add to his 123 caps for his native New Zealand. He represented New Zealand in one Test, 57 ODIs, and 65 T20Is. He was a master in the shortest format, amassing three hundreds. Munro was a New Zealand short-form batting pioneer who adopted the aggressive, 360-degree batting technique that is now commonplace globally.
