Babar Azam returns as Pakistan white ball captain.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named Babar Azam as the new captain of the Pakistan men’s cricket team. Azam resigned as captain in November after the PCB wanted to select a replacement, prompting Afridi’s appointment. Babar’s appointment is considered as a justification of his dismissal following Pakistan’s World Cup performance. The majority of the selection panel members supported Babar’s reinstatement, but he imposed some conditions. He requested assurances that he would not be replaced again after the T20I World Cup, as well as a lengthier tenure as captain. The PCB’s brief association with Afridi may have had a bad impact on his morale, since he lost confidence in his leadership qualities after guiding Pakistan in one series and his PSL franchise Lahore Qalandars.
