All-rounder Maxwell pushes the Stars to third place with a derby victory against the Renegades. Deba, January 2, 2024 Glenn Maxwell‘s 100th BBL game for the Melbourne Stars was marked by an all-around performance in their derby triumph over the Melbourne Renegades. The Stars won by eight wickets and moved up to third place, while the Renegades finished bottom with 1-5. Maxwell, the first Stars player to reach 100 games, won the toss and well handled the bowlers. He and opener Thomas Rogers combined for 32 runs off 15 pitches, including three consecutive sixes off Adam Zampa. A protracted rain delay, a quad injury, and a contract issue with the Afghanistan Cricket Board all posed obstacles for the Renegades. The Stars are now 4-3 in Melbourne derbies and will face the Renegades again on January 13.
