Despite major manufacturers’ threats to phase out diesel vehicles, Indian consumers are increasingly buying them. Kia Motors, a market leader in India, is apparently aiming to phase out diesel vehicles in favor of hybrid models. This is a big change from Maruti Suzuki’s plan, which has already stopped producing diesel vehicles in order to focus on gasoline, hybrid, and CNG alternatives. Kia’s decision to abandon diesel is considered as a commitment to a cleaner future, as diesel-powered vehicles account for 40% of its sales.
